CWA Staff and Volunteers Page

Various CWA staff and volunteers will post thoughts, ideas, suggestions, etc on this page. I figure it will be easiest to collect their ideas all in one place. But, CWA people -- If you want to post elsewhere on this wiki, feel free. You can add comments on the wiki pages themselves, or use the "Discussion" tab to post comments on a discussion board associated with that page.

3/10 Please use this image in all your advertising. If you need a different file format or resolution, please email Graham at CWAPress@Colorado.edu If you want to place the logo on a black/dark background, we have an inverted logo available, as well.

Bryan - Hey all, LOVING the ideas everyone is coming up with on the main CWA page. Here are some thoughts to what you guys have so far:
@ David J - The radio announcement is something we could definitely do. We have many panels that actually take place at the KGNU radio station so we are very close to those guys. We could also see if Radio 1190 would be up for hosting some quick 30 second spots for us. We have about 80 student volunteers this semester, so plenty of people to interview about the CWA! Also like the idea of advertising specific stations. If we can get them something that sounds good I agree they would probably help us out.

@ Ashley, Ben - we have been talking about putting together some kind of student video blog for a while. The video we had a few years ago for taking to classes featured some interviews with students, but nothing to write home about. This could be great to get up to compliment the blog

@ Razan - We do have a 2 min video we have for the website. The main univeristy website does have a logo for us during the week, but video is something they won't give us. As far as banners, we will have that covered. We have about a large stock of banners that will be around campus, many of which will be outside/inside the UMC.

@ Renee - This is a great idea. Almost advertising specific panels like an event itself. This would be great to target certain session to a building that would interest those students. Science stuff @ Duane or engineering for example. If we could get them branded so they resembled our other posters around campus that would be EXTREMELY effective and fairly easy to do. Let us know how we can help!

@ Chris and Meghan - Sounds similar to Renee. I agree that targeting specific big panels that relate to a certain department would be great. Maybe we could do something like flier for a specific professor who we know has a big IA or political science class? Flier department mailboxes and advisors maybe in hopes they pass it on to their classes?

@ Ben - This is something we do often overlook. Since this event is heavily attended by the greater Boulder community, advertising off-campus would benefit the cause.

@ Mike/Jeremy - I really want to push branding this year. Hopefully students see a poster and can tell without even thinking that it is CWA. This is something we need to integrate into all the ideas above. As far as restroom stuff, the problem is getting permission for this. We have done this in the past, but the posters are taken down in a matter of hours since you must have them approved for in there, and so far we have not had luck with getting restroom approval.

@ Ashley/Meghan - Chalk is something we will definitely be doing with our volunteers the weeks leading up to the conference. Agree that if we can chalk EVERYWHERE it is a great cheap ad.

Great ideas so far. We have the Norlin quad reserved from the Thursday to the Friday of Conference week. Also we have the tables in the UMC reserved for table tents the week before and of. We have done specific particiapants posters in the past, and it worked out really well.

If you need any help/questions/comments from us you can email: cwastud@colorado.edu
Otherwise we will keep an eye on the wiki. Excited to start seeing some of these ideas in the physical form!
